Finally, choose the shim style and thickness.
Inserts have been carefully designed by Master Saddlers. They are custom cut specifically for each pad with a tapered edge to ensure you will never have a pressure point. Our exclusive foam makes saddles fit better, and horses more comfortable.
Inserts stay put without shifting and you may stack up to three sets. We do not divide the pocket, allowing you or your saddle fitter to place the inserts precisely where your horse needs it.
If you find you no longer need inserts, just remove them and keep all the great benefits of your ThinLine Pad!
We have a list of saddle fitters on our dealer page if you would like to consult with a specialist.
Colors: ThinLinePlus+ shims are available in black only. Ultra ThinLine shims may arrive in black, brown or white. Saddle shims cannot be seen inside your pad, so color is not an issue.
Please note: Bridging Shims for Swayback – If your saddle is bridging, you are missing contact in the middle of the horse’s back and there is too much contact at both the wither and the cantle. When using bridging shims, we recommend you start slowly. Use only one or two at a time. You will discover your horse will begin to lift their top line and develop more muscle with ThinLine. Once the muscle is developed it is often possible to remove one or all of the saddle shims. Good news: you keep your ThinLine pad and horses continue to use their backs correctly.
Hi and thanks for your question! If you saddle is bridging due to the developing sway, we recommend using the bridging shims. If your horse is losing muscle all along the topline, we recommend using the booster shim to fill in the space and add an additional layer of ThinLine protection. When in doubt, we always recommend working with a qualified saddle fitter! Please contact us if you'd like help locating one in your area.
Hi and thank you for your question! If you have a less than well fitting saddle, the saddle fitting shims can help adjust your fit. If your horse has hollows behind the wither, or a diminished topline, for example, adding shims can help fill in those spaces, ensuring even contact and weight distribution. If you're looking for extra back protection and comfort, the full length Booster shims provides that without altering your saddle fit.
